Before
Preparation: Your skin will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
Treatment: The handheld laser device will be passed over the treatment area, delivering pulses of light energy to the skin. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation during the procedure, but it's generally well-tolerated.
Protective measures: Your eyes will be protected with special goggles to shield them from the laser light.
After
Immediate effects: Your skin may appear red or flushed immediately after the procedure, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and typically subsides within a few hours. We advise you to avoid excessive sweating for 48 hours.
Sensitivity: For a day or two after the treatment, your skin may feel sensitive or slightly swollen. You may also experience some mild discomfort, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
Healing Skin: On the second or third day after treatment, you will increasingly notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the treated skin. This is called the MENDS (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris). MENDS are microscopic wounds from the laser treatment. Do not pick at these, as removing them prematurely can lead to scarring and hyperpigmentation. Allow the MENDS to fall off on their own.
Results: Initial results may be visible within a week or two after the treatment, with continued improvement over the following six months as collagen production increases and skin texture improves.
Sun protection: Protect your skin from the sun with SPF and avoid excessive sun exposure during healing to prevent complications and ensure optimal results.
Products: You will be advised to use an occlusive product like Aquaphor over the treated area for 3-5 days. To maximize your treatment results, you may also use the Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology® from Alastin two weeks before and after treatment!
