Your Halo Questions, Answered
What results can I expect after my Halo treatment?
How does the Halo work?
The Halo and Halo Pro lasers are innovative devices used for skin rejuvenation treatments. They utilize a combination of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to address a variety of skin concerns.
The Halo laser works by delivering both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths of light to the skin simultaneously. The ablative component targets the top layer of the skin, removing damaged tissue and stimulating collagen production. This helps to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and address pigmentation issues. The non-ablative component penetrates deeper into the skin, targeting underlying issues such as sun damage and enlarged pores.
The Halo Pro laser is an advanced version that offers more customizable treatment options, allowing for tailored treatments based on individual skin concerns and goals. It can deliver more precise and targeted results compared to traditional laser treatments.
Overall, both the Halo and Halo Pro lasers provide effective skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime, making them popular choices for those looking to improve the appearance of their skin.
Is the Halo safe for my skin?
Yes, both the Halo and Halo Pro lasers are considered safe when performed by a qualified and experienced healthcare professional. These devices are FDA-approved for various skin rejuvenation treatments and have been used successfully to address a wide range of skin concerns. However, as with any procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, such as temporary redness, swelling, or changes in pigmentation. We will be there to guide you through this during your consultation.
Following proper pre-treatment and post-treatment care instructions can help minimize the risk of complications and ensure a safe and effective outcome.
How do I prepare for the Halo?
Avoid sun exposure: Protect your skin from the sun for at least two weeks before the treatment. This includes avoiding tanning beds and excessive sun exposure.
Discontinue Strong Products: Stop using retinoids and active ingredients two weeks before the treatment.
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water before your treatment to keep your skin hydrated and promote optimal healing.
Cleanse your skin: On the day of the treatment, cleanse your skin thoroughly, removing any makeup, sunscreen, or skincare products.
To maximize your treatment results, you may also use the Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology® from Alastin two weeks before and after treatment!
What does Halo feel like and what can I expect after Halo?
Before
Preparation: Your skin will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
Treatment: The handheld laser device will be passed over the treatment area, delivering pulses of light energy to the skin. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation during the procedure, but it's generally well-tolerated.
Protective measures: Your eyes will be protected with special goggles to shield them from the laser light.
After
Immediate effects: Your skin may appear red or flushed immediately after the procedure, similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and typically subsides within a few hours. We advise you to avoid excessive sweating for 48 hours.
Sensitivity: For a day or two after the treatment, your skin may feel sensitive or slightly swollen. You may also experience some mild discomfort, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
Healing Skin: On the second or third day after treatment, you will increasingly notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the treated skin. This is called the MENDS (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris). MENDS are microscopic wounds from the laser treatment. Do not pick at these, as removing them prematurely can lead to scarring and hyperpigmentation. Allow the MENDS to fall off on their own.
Results: Initial results may be visible within a week or two after the treatment, with continued improvement over the following six months as collagen production increases and skin texture improves.
Sun protection: Protect your skin from the sun with SPF and avoid excessive sun exposure during healing to prevent complications and ensure optimal results.
Products: You will be advised to use an occlusive product like Aquaphor over the treated area for 3-5 days. To maximize your treatment results, you may also use the Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology® from Alastin two weeks before and after treatment!
How many treatments do I need?
The number of sessions needed for Halo or Halo Pro laser treatments can vary depending on your skin concerns, the severity of the condition being treated, and your desired results.
Clients with mild concerns get the treatment 1-2 times a year, while clients with moderate to severe concerns will require more. Depending on your skin, treatments will be spaced anywhere from 1-6 months apart.
When will I see results from my Halo treatment?
You may start noticing improvements in your skin within a week after your Halo or Halo Pro laser treatment. However, the full results typically become more apparent over the following weeks and months as collagen production increases, and your skin continues to regenerate.
When can I wear makeup again?
We ask clients to refrain from makeup for 3-5 days.
