Most people are candidates however, SkinPen should not be used on patients who have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s); open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s); an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction; are pregnant or nursing; or are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane).

Skincare Routine: Follow a gentle skincare routine leading up to the treatment. Avoid harsh exfoliants, retinoids, and other irritants that may increase skin sensitivity.

Sun Protection: Protect your skin from excessive sun exposure for at least two weeks before the treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of complications.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Avoid Blood Thinners: To minimize the risk of bruising, avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications in the days before your treatment.

During the treatment

Topical Anesthesia: A numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort during the procedure. It usually takes about 20-30 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect.

Microneedling: Your skincare specialist will use a handheld device with tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. The depth and intensity of the microneedling will depend on your skin concerns and treatment goals.

Sensation: You may experience some mild discomfort or a sensation of tingling or pricking during the microneedling process, but it's generally well-tolerated, especially with the numbing cream.

After the treatment

Immediate Effects: Your skin may appear slightly red and feel sensitive immediately after the procedure. This is normal and usually subsides within a few hours to a day.

Skin Sensation: You may experience a sensation similar to a mild sunburn, including warmth, tightness, and slight discomfort. This sensation typically resolves within a day or two.

Redness and Swelling: Some redness and swelling may persist for a few days after the treatment, depending on the intensity of the procedure and your skin's sensitivity.

With as few as three non-invasive and affordable treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance for six months after your last treatment – and step out with confidence.

You may begin to notice initial improvements in your skin's appearance within the first week or two after microneedling. However, the full results typically become more apparent over the following weeks and months as your skin undergoes the natural process of collagen production and regeneration. Many people notice continued improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness for several months after their microneedling treatment. Additionally, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart may be recommended for optimal results, depending on your specific skin concerns and treatment goals.

After microneedling, it's generally recommended to wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup.

After microneedling, you may experience redness, swelling, and minor pinpoint bleeding in the treated areas, which typically subsides within a few days. Your skin may also feel tight and slightly sensitive. It's important to avoid direct sun exposure and use gentle skincare products during the recovery period. Over the following weeks, you'll notice improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness as collagen production increases.
