What is the IPL Photofacial?
Photofacials look like lasers, but they are actually intense pulsed light that breaks down blemishes and pigmentation in the skin. They are only well suited for Fitzpatrick skin types I-III.
How do I prepare for the treatment?
In the 3-5 days before the treatment, avoid using harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or other potentially irritating skincare products.
Protect your skin from excessive sun exposure in the days before the treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of complications and affect the treatment outcome.
What can I expect after the treatment?
During an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial, a handheld device is used to deliver pulses of broad-spectrum light to the skin.
You may feel a mild snapping sensation or warmth during the procedure, but it's generally well-tolerated. Protective eyewear is usually worn to shield your eyes from the bright flashes of light.
The treatment typically takes about 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. After the session, your skin may appear slightly red or flushed, but this usually subsides within a few hours to a day.
How many treatments will I need?
Multiple sessions are often recommended for best results, spaced a few weeks apart.
When will I see the results?
You may start to see initial improvements in your skin within a few days to weeks after your first IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial treatment. However, the full results typically become more apparent over the following weeks and months as your skin continues to respond to the treatment.
When can I wear makeup again?
You can typically resume wearing makeup immediately after.
